For price-conscious console gamers, the Xbox is the first choice. Unlike Sony, Microsoft hasn’t raised the prices of the Series X and Series S, and Game Pass offers a huge selection of games for little money. But the days of cheap gaming fun are numbered on the Xbox too.
In August, Sony increased the price of the PlayStation 5 . Instead of 499.99 euros, the traditional company now charges 549.99 euros for its current games console. Microsoft didn’t miss the opportunity to get one over on the competition: Xbox boss Phil Spencer then announced that the prices of the Series X and Series S would remain stable . A month later, the withdrawal follows.
Price increases for Xbox Series X and Series S and Game Pass
Sooner or later Microsoft will turn the price screw . Spencer explained this in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. The prices for consoles, games and subscriptions have been kept stable, but this is not possible in the long term: “At some point we will raise the prices, I think.”
However, the head of the Xbox department did not name a specific point in time. At least this Christmas, potential Xbox buyers and Game Pass subscribers are still on the safe side . Spencer ruled out immediate price increases.
Don’t hesitate any longer with your Xbox purchase
The Xbox Series X currently costs around 500 euros ( see Amazon ), while the smaller and slightly less powerful Series S without a drive comes to 270 euros ( see Amazon ). The Game Pass is available as a 6-month subscription for just under 60 euros ( view at Amazon ).
So if you’ve been toying with the idea of buying an Xbox Series X or Series S for a while or want to extend your Game Pass subscription, you should n’t wait too long . The words of the Xbox boss are unmistakable: Microsoft won’t be able to keep prices stable for long.
